Draw enough to give Golcar u16 Title

Golcar nerves were stretched to the limit as two late Sikstone goals threatened to spoil United's party but Golcar held on to take the under 16 League Title

Having drawn their first league meeting with Silkstone and lost to them in a cup penalty shoot out, Golcar entered the game needing a single point to seal the title while, for the home side, only a victory would keep them in the title race.

Golcar (Green)

Although Silkstone enjoyed the lion's share of possession in the opening encounters, Golcar came nearest to scoring when a 15 yard shot skimmed the top of the cross bar and keeper Hamish Harrison pulled off a superb save before Liam Hallam finally grabbed the opening goal for United.

Edward Wilson almost doubled United's advantage early in the second half but his blistering 30 yard free kick rebounded from the cross bar.

Jacob Robertson eased United's nerves when he headed home a corner kick to double United's advantage on the hour but, after a period of Golcar dominance, Silkstone's fight back started when Ben Armitage fired home.

Although Silkstone continued to pile on the pressure, Golcar seemed to be heading for victory until Tim Brook equalised in the first minute of injury time.  Despite the setback, Golcar held on to the point which gave them the title.
