A long, difficult season
finally ended when Westend defeated YMCA in the u12 Division 1 Play Off at
Howden Clough |
|
|
|
|
|
Westend dominated the early
encounters and were rewarded for their efforts when, with the YMCA keeper
stranded, Danny Robinson was left to tap home the opening goal. |
|
|
|
|
|
Sean O'Brien doubled Westend's
advantage 10 minutes later with an unstoppable free kick which sneaked just
under the cross bar. |
|
|
|
|
|
A YMCA goal just before half time
left the game on a knife edge but O'Brien restored Westend's two goal lead
from the penalty spot. |
|
|
|
|
|
Westend came under severe
pressure in the closing minutes as YMCA pushed everything into attack but,
despite some near misses, they were unable make the breakthrough and Westend
held out to take the title. |
