Dead Ball

One of the most popular Mini-Soccer questions to arise this season is...

"Should Goal Kicks be taken from the ground or can the ball be kicked out of the hands ?"

The answer is as follows...

A goal kick must be taken while the ball is on the ground.
However, the kick can be taken from anywhere in the penalty area.

LAW 16.              Goal Kick
Procedure
A player of the defending team kicks the ball from any point within the penalty area.
Opponents must remain outside the penalty area and at least 4.5m (5 yards) from where the kick is taken until the ball is in play.

Note...   The ball is only in play when it leaves the penalty area - If it fails to leave the area it should be re-taken.
