Annual General Meeting

The League held its Annual General Meeting recently at which a number of serious issues were discussed.

The most important was the FA's recent announcement that the under 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 age groups will not be allowed to play in a League Competition commencing 2013-14

Although the FA use the term 'Flexible Competition', there will be no Results, League Tables or Cups and, therefore, 'No Competition'.
Again, the FA's use of the term 'Development Games', in reality, mean 'Friendlies'

The meeting agreed unanimously that such a move would be disastrous to Youth Football and removes the rights of children to play in a League if they wish to do so.

As a direct result of the FA's continual imposition of draconian rules upon the junior game, an organisation called the National Conference of Youth Leagues (NCYL) has now emerged in order to represent those Leagues that believe the FA's interference in junior football is likely to do more harm than good and, moreover, is simply an attempt to wrest control of Youth Football for their own purposes.

The aim of the NCYL is to ensure that the Clubs, players and volunteers make the decisions and not a disconnected organisation that fails, or refuses, to understand the needs and problems of Grassroots Football.

The meeting agreed that the League should join the National Conference of Youth Leagues.

PLEASE NOTE that the League will not take any action without first receiving the agreement of the League Council.
