This Page contains Help and
Advice to assist you to get past |
some of the problems
encountered by Team Managers. |
These notes are to help but
MUST NOT be taken as permission. |
If you are still in doubt, contact a
League Official |
First of all, let's get something clear. |
The rules are not written by some hideous, child eating
bureaucrat. |
They're written by your club |
YES, YOUR CLUB |
Every club in the League decides the rules and votes on them
each year |
Every club has the opportunity to change the rules every
year |
The League Secretary and Committee do not write the rules |
Their job is simply to apply them |
So, if you don't like the rules, complain to your club - Not
the League |
Upon joining the League, you agree to abide by the rules so,
Please try to take some time to understand the most common
problems encountered by Team Managers during a season |
If you are in any doubt, ask a league Official - DO NOT
ASSUME |
PRECEDENT |
In order to understand why some rules are imposed, it's
important to understand Precedent. |
In a nutshell Precedent means 'What's OK for one is OK for
all'. |
So, for instance, it's not uncommon for managers to play an
ineligible player in the Cup |
It's very often an Honest Mistake and the manager has no
intention of cheating. |
The problem is that, if the League Committee allow the
mistake, they are setting a Precedent. |
The Precedent would then allow teams to play ineligible
players at any time and simply say they made a mistake. |
REPORTING PROBLEMS -
REFEREE'S RESPONSIBILTY |
The Referee, official or non-official, has a duty to report
any unsavoury or unpleasant events that happen on or around
the pitch before, during and after the game - including any
yellow or red cards - directly to the County FA. |
The League has little power to take any action unless
procedures are followed correctly. |
If you are the opposition and the referee takes any action
during a game it's also your responsibility to report to the
County FA that the referee was required to take such action. |
If you are not sure how to make a report please contact the
League Secretary. |
PLAYER QUALIFICATION |
Team Managers MUST have players I.D cards ready to show
the opposition BEFORE the game commences. |
FAILURE TO PRODUCE I.D CARDS
PRIOR TO THE GAME MAY RESULT IN LOSS OF POINTS AND A FINE. |
CUP QUALIFICATION |
Players must have played at least 2 games for the club this
season. |
Do not imagine there are any excuses
for getting this wrong. |
If any one of your players has not played 2 games then your
team will be eliminated from the competition. |
Please check and double check as there will be |
NO EXCEPTIONS ! |
It's also important to note that, in the Cup, players can
only play for ONE TEAM in any age group |
MATCH REPORTS |

u9 to u18's should use the Match Report Book provided |
RETURN OF TROPHIES |
Please remember that another team would like to enjoy being
presented with the trophy that you won last year so, we need
to get them back ready for the next winner |
ALL TROPHIES MUST BE RETURNED BY THE
FEBRUARY LEAGUE MEETING AT THE LATEST |
SCHOOL EVENTS |
28 Days Notice is required to postpone a game due to players
on a school trip/event. |
School trips are usually arranged months in advance. |
Managers are advised to ask your
Players & Parents if any school events are planned. |
They, very often, will not think tell you until the last
minute |
REPORTING RESULTS |
Results of ALL games, including goalscorers, must be phoned
or e-mailed to the Results Secretary as soon as possible
after the game |
Scores & Scorers are printed in the
Yorkshire Post on Monday & the Huddersfield Examiner on
Tuesday |
REFEREE APPOINTMENTS |
Official Referees are appointed to selected matches in
the u16, 17 & 18's. |
It is very important that the
Referees Secretary is fully informed of any changes
to Handbook details |
SHORT OF PLAYERS |
If your team is short of players
consider borrowing from a younger age group. |
An u11 can play u12 etc., |
However, Mini-soccer players cannot play 11-a-side |
MATCH DAYS |
ALL Sundays from 11 Sep to 31 May inclusive are Match Days. |
TEAMS CANNOT REFUSE TO PLAY ON MATCH
DAYS |
COUNTY & DISTRICT CUPS |
Please phone ALL results, including
County & District games in to the Results Secretary |
We can't plan fixtures unless we know if your team is going
to be in the next round. |
The Counties and Districts DO NOT inform the League of their
competition details. |
POSTPONEMENTS |
The League Secretary has no
power to postpone games. Please don't ask. |
Games can only be postponed due to... |
County & District Cup Games |
Loss of Pitch |
(If no fault of the club) |
School Events |
(28 days notice required) |
Recognised Religious Festivals |
(28 days notice for Eid) |
ON OR BEFORE |
League games can be played on or before the date on the
fixture list - But not after. |
If you have a problem on a certain
date, consider playing at an earlier date |
MATCH ARRANGEMENTS |
As a matter of courtesy, home Team Managers should inform their opponents of changes
to handbook details at least 6 days before a game. |
If your
opponents don’t ring you, then ring them ! |
